Victoria Park Golf Club Development Masterplan Unveiled

The masterplan for Brisbane’s most significant park development in 50 years has been released!

On January 19th, 2020 Brisbane City Council released a draft masterplan for the development of Victoria Park Golf Course into a world-class public parkland.

Once completed, the parkland will be double the size of the city Botanic Gardens.

The current function centre, putt-putt course and driving range will remain, but alongside it, the draft masterplan promises to include:

    • A new cultural hub.
    • Mountain bike and walking tracks
    • High ropes course
    • Vegetable patch
    • A 1.4-hectare lake
    • Boat house and kayaking hire
    • Skate park
    • Tennis and cricket courts
    • Children’s water park
    • Children’s playground
    • A canopy walk
    • A tree house
    • A new function facility
    • Outdoor multipurpose entertainment spaces
    • A new golf “skills” practise area.

The Council said the community submitted more than 5,000 ideas for the development of Victoria Park with the most requested features being:

    • Native gardens, trees, shade, nature.
    • All ages activities: playground, bbq, shelters.
    • Water features.

The new Cultural Hub will be the park’s standout attraction. The Hub, which will consist of three constructed ecosystems, will transport its visitors to SEQ’s subtropical rainforest, coastal communities or other distinct landscapes.
