New Toowong Development ‘The Aviary’ will create hundreds of construction jobs in 2021.

Brisbane City Council has recently given the green light to a new $450 million mixed-use precinct development in Toowong that will create hundreds of construction jobs in Brisbane.

The State Development Corporation is developing the Toowong precinct to be named ‘The Aviary’ in partnership with White & Partners Sydney. Its development will bring a welcome boost to the South East Queensland economy, creating 400 jobs through the construction phase.

Once complete, the 9000m2 project will feature residential, retail, hospitality, office spaces, shared outdoor spaces and a new public streetscape plaza area.

The precinct will comprise of:

• 150 residential apartments;
• approximately 30 retail shops;
• a large commercial office tower;
• an elevated outdoor precinct;
• cinemas;
• services such as fitness/wellness centres;
• a medical centre; and
• childcare facilities.

The Aviary will be located on the corner of High Street and Sherwood Road and construction is expected to run from late 2021 until 2023.
